In the article by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shelflife.ie\/\">ShelfLife Magazine<\/a> in association with RGDATA they publicised a Crime Survey which led to a RTE Primetime Special Report on the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This led to further questions being asked in the D\u00e1il in relation to the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fine Gael TD Alan Dillon had asked the Taoiseach: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWhat changes are planned in legislation to protect our local shops and convenience store staff and owners who state they are losing \u20ac100s, if not \u20ac1,000s, per week as a result of these crimes?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also highlighted in the article was RGDATA and CSNA member Sheila Clarke, who runs Clarkes XL petrol station and shop in Ballina, Co Mayo, claimed on Prime Time that the retail sector is currently experiencing \u201ca pandemic of petty crime\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Raising her concerns in the D\u00e1il, Dillon said: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe Ballina-based owner said there is not enough repercussions for young offenders involved in retail crime.
